The DX331 Digital Camera is from Shiro. Shiro is a company in Singapore.

It is one of the most affordable digital compact camera available. It features 3.3 Megapixels CMOS Image Sensor and 4X Digital Zoom. It can output 10 megapixel images (extrapolated).

 

Generally from our experience, Shiro DX331 Digital Camera is quite competent for daytime and outdoor photography. Under bright sunlight conditions, the photos turn out to be sharp and vivid.

There is also a macro feature which is useful for close up shots. However, we have found that from Macro to Portrait mode, there is a small distance range whereby the camera cannot focus sharply.
Additionally, the digital camera is also much less capable under dimly lighted conditions. Under such scenarios, the resultant photos often appeared to be significantly under exposed and lacking in details. Parts of the scene may appear to be darker than it really is. As with most other cameras, the noise level of dimly lit scene also increases significantly.

Like many digital compacts nowadays, DX331 also features video recording function. It saves as AVI files and comes with sound recording too.

Compared to energy efficient digital compact cameras such as Sony Cyber-shots, the power of this camera exhaust itself rather rapidly.
Below is an dayshot that was taken using the Shiro DX331. Apart from a slight graininess, the images turned out quite fine.

Overall, we felt that for normal dayshots, this camera is up to the task. But if you are going to be taking dimly lighted scenes such as nightshots, perhaps a higher end camera will be more suitable.
