Nikon D40 DSLR
This is the Nikon D40. It is the most popular budget Digital SLR from Nikon. Nikon D40 is cheaper than the Nikon D80 and the Nikon D200. Many of the features of the D80 can be found in the D40.
The relatively low cost does come with some limitations:
The disadvantage of the D40 is that it doesn’t autofocus with non-AF-S lenses. Fortunately, it work with older pro AF-I lenses. This is because the camera doesn’t have an built-in focus drive motor. It can auto focus only with lenses that comes with their own motor.
Also, this camera does not allow automatic exposure compensation. You still can do compensation, but manually. In another word, this camera does not feature auto-bracketing.
Apart from these shortcomings, The Nikon D4o is a very impressive and attractive Digital SLR camera.
