Photography info - Manipulate DOF for better subject focus

In Photography, sometimes, it is not a good idea to have every details within the frame to be in sharp focus. To draw attention to a main subject, we can choose to selectively defocus other elements of the composition.

To do so, we can set the camera parameter to a narrow or shallow Depth-of-field (DOF). A shallow DOF corresponds to smaller F-stop number. The smaller the F-stop number the larger the aperture size. The smaller the F-stop, the more defused objects that are not within the focal length will appear. This technique is especially useful for close-up or macro photography.

If your camera features aperture-priority, it is a good idea to switch to this mode. This can ensure that the camera automatically select the appropriate shutter speed for the designated aperture size.
