Hospedagem tips for a photography intensive website or homehost
You might be intriqued by the word Hospedagem in the title. Well, Hospedagem simply means Web Hosting in Brazilian.
Some websites do not need much bandwidth for web hosting. But if you are maintaining photographs and image intensive websites, bandwidth might be an important factor. This is because photographs are considerably larger files than plain text-based contents.
Additionally, many photography-related and photo portfolio websites like to use Flash animations. That makes websites even more bandwidth-intensive.
Typically, it is not a good idea for the visitor to wait for too long for the site to load. Visitors normally do not have the patience to wait for more than a minute or two.
There are several ways to increase the loading speed.
One way to work around this is to use a fast web host. Homehost is an example of a web hosting company. Typically, shared hosting packages are slower than dedicated servers.
Another way is to compressed the photo JPEG file until it is reasonably sized. I use GIMP to do the jpeg image compression. So far, GIMP does a fairly good job. The compression that I use is typically 85%. Using the default 100% usually produces images that are unnecessarily large.

Well, that all for this article. Hope it is useful.
